Friday

Nisshin is lovely during the day, but at night it comes alive, with a foreign but still similar feel to it. A building is a building and a stoplight is a stoplight,  ever so familiar but still just a bit different looking. So far I have experienced nothing like a late night bike ride when the streets are all quiet and the neon lights glow against the dark. The days here are still hot and humid in September and at times it can seem suffocating. But with the sun down and the wind flying it 's a wonderful reprieve. I've yet to go intensive exploring and at night the streets can all seem identical.

A word about transportation in Japan.

Yes, Japan has the best buss transports in the world. Yes, Japan has the most public transportation you can find. Train and bus passes are both fairly cheap. However if there is somewhere too far to walk but close enough to bike it can be more economically smart to buy a bike than to solely rely on the buses. The bus here is 100 en per ride. My bike cost a little more that 10,000 en. So 100 bus rides is about the same as one bike. Plus if you resell your bike at the end of your stay to another student you can recoup most of your money.
